it’s not an engagement, it’s a tradition
there was no studying this weekend– we were too busy driving all around so cal.
saturday, ryan and i drove up and down PCH looking at potential wedding sites. we hiked up and down hills, braved shady staircases, and shot pictures galore. i found a nice home in laguna beach that i’d like to buy… perhaps in 20 years when i’ve actually been employed for a while. everyone needs a weekend beach home.
we came home (exhausted), ordered corsages (pink roses!), and the mom, sister, and i ran off to get late night mani/pedis before an even later night dinner at honolulu harry’s.
sunday was the engagement party. woo hoo! crowds of people, tons of food(filet mignon, chicken, fried rice, mi, veggies, potatoes, cake, flan, and a large bowl of fruity-sangria-ish punch), and an incident with a burning balloon. one of the guests remarked that ryan looked like some famous guy from old western movies. i can’t remember the name. hahahahaha. ryan the cowboy!
the family bombarded us with gifts– especially the mom, who gave us an odd number of ben-ja-mins so we’d “have to share”. no tearing bills in half! so… we have a new basket with salt and wine for our new house (ryan already tore into the bread. long live the tuna melt.), a frame for one of our wedding pictures, flowers, and a nice hefty start to our nest egg.
later, we checked out a possible reception site. we arrived just as a reception was winding down… featuring a loud vietnamese girl and a gargantuan italian boy. it’s a sign! hahahahahahaha. i’m thinking… we’ve found our place.
pictures to come.

yaaaaaay! a fun weekend indeed. if you want, you can unload one of those benjamins to your sister. i’m quite in need of cash. esp. with my new apartment :o).
CONGRATS KIMMIE!
