break out the socks

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2004 at about 10:27 am

vacation plans are finalized!

first, a resort in san diego. then christmas at home with the people… and ryan! then, off to big bear for snow [hopefully] and hot cocoa. and then…. off to vegas to celebrate a very, very, very belated twenty-firth(sic) birthday, get pampered, and see the blue man group [i think. if they’re still there. i really don’t know].

oh, and eat. there’s always some sort of food involved.

up all night

Saturday, November 20th, 2004 at about 8:28 am

dave ‘n busters was fun. we played games while we waited for our table– ryan is a basketball superstar– and not bad at the skeeball, either. we ended up with enough tickets to get a stuffed doggie for annie… and have some left over for next time. it’s like chuck E cheese with beer and big screens playing sports– fun, as long as you don’t go very often.

we got home at 12ish, but i was still wide awake. so… i pushed some code and some pretty things in photoshop around… and voila! new theme for the bloggy. it still feels unfinished, though. we’ll have to wait and see what else i can do for it. but for now, celebrate FALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

i just love the orangey reddish yellowy leaves on the ground around my apt. they make a nice crunch crunch sound as i run through them on the way to my car.

polyuria and polydypsia

Monday, November 15th, 2004 at about 12:06 am

annie came over wednesday night to hang out and work on secondaries… so of course, we went out to dinner. everything was going great until…. we started talking about the giant 4ft grey mystery bunny. then all hell broke loose. i laughed so hard that i fell over and disappeared underneath the table and got up with my back and my side hurting. who knew a 4 second hallucination could bring so much joy after all these years?

we spent the next day sitting in my living room drinking tea [poor, sick annie poopy], eating jelly bellies, and studying. well, i studied. annie wrote and wrote and wrote and stopped every once in a while to read her prose.

friday night the mom, annie, ryan, and i went out for dinner and drinks. i drank about half my mojito, came home, and promptly fell asleep. to my defense, it had been a long day– i took a tortuous renal final that afternoon and wound up with a headache.

by saturday, i had managed to give away the bulk of what i had collected at the AOA convention. i mean, who needs a box full of children’s meds, allergy tabs, and calcium? i kept the chapstick and the analgesics. i’m not sure why.

this morning, the mom and i made our way to target to spend my birthday gift certificate from bac dam. i am now the owner of a bright blue, brand spankin’ new, space-savin’ brita water filter jug thing. i finally broke down and bought it so annie and could have tea by the gallon without breaking open 15 little water bottles at a time. it’ll be quite useful this weekend. fresh sashimi and tea!!!

and tonight- ryan came over again! woo hoo! i put my studies on hold while we goofed off and babbled about naming our future pug “thug”. i still think it should be Earl. or Arf. i want to see a bunch of my family members running around the backyard yelling “arf! arf! arf!”. lol.

it’s quiet again, now, though.

i [heart] my potato gun

Monday, October 25th, 2004 at about 10:13 pm

potatogun-top.jpg

potatogun-300shots.jpgafter playing at the arcade on saturday, we had accumulated a ton of tickets– annie picked out a dart gun, and i picked out a potato gun [the packaging was cool… and hey, it said potato]. i had bought a potato yesterday to try it out, but had forgotten about it until tonight, when ryan fished it out of the fridge and started pelting my screen door with starchy little pellets. we ended up shooting potato bullets over my balcony and at my plants while laughing gleefully at each successful pop.

right now, the gun is clean and waiting for the next time i feel like being a 6 year old, and the potato is full of holes and waiting to be thrown out.

and the birthday week begins

Saturday, October 23rd, 2004 at about 10:02 pm

scaryfarmticket.jpgfriday: the lecturer went OVERTIME and kept me in class cranky and tired while my family anxiously waited at my apartment. upon my arrival, i was showered with gifts: pomegranate soap, a notebook with a cartoon that looks like me and my ryan [thanks, annie!], and a $50 gift certificate to BR [thanks, ryan!]! we had a little mishap on the way to dinner [the car stalled out and had to be towed], so we got a quick bite at olive garden and then drove down the traffic-filled freeway to knott’s scary farm. turns out, the halloween haunt wasn’t worth the drive and parking headache. we were surrounded by teeny-boppers all night, and were herded through the park like cattle. moo. annie and ryan didn’t care for the mazes, where people in strange costumes jumped out from behind every corner. my mom and i, however, laughed through the whole thing. funny, i thought she’d be the one we’d have to take care of. it was fun hanging out with the family, though. we’ll just have to pick a happier place next time.

photobooth at newportphotobooth at knott'smom on the skateboard

saturday: world toy camera day! my holga, diana clone, izone, and pop9 cameras were with me all day. i was loading and reloading film like a madwoman. annie came with me to PCHAT to see what all of the fuss was about, and ended up staying with me the entire time to play with the kids. afterwards, we drove down to newport beach for lunchy at sushi 21 [salmon, tuna, yellowtail, oh my!]. the plan was to take some pictures at a photobooth nearby, but we ended up spending half the afternoon at the arcade. annie and ryan dominated the basketball game, my mom played skeeball, poker and skateboarding, and i… well, i took lots and lots of pictures. dinner was at chakra, the new indian restaurant at the university center in irvine.

and now, we’re home, and i’m tired. i’ve been driving forever.

ooooooooooooooh yeah!

trivialpursuit6.jpgfriday night brought annie, mom, and ryan over to my place for annie’s birthday celebration. we went down to wabi sabi for some teppan table entertainment– complete with shooting fire, flying egg, water spraying, and a rousing birthday song [with a tambourine and a paper hat]. annie got two scoops of green tea ice cream with a candle in it to make up for her embarassment. she and ryan ordered sapporos in celebration of her ability to drink, and the mom ordered a bright pink blended arbor mist thingy. i, as the designated driver, had to console myself with an iced tea.

saturday, i spent the day studying cardio in rowland. afterwards, william and i went down to HK supermarket, where we went searching for strange things written on fobby stationary. i picked out new funky pens that can apparently write on my cell phone and other strange objects (and then be easily peeled off). dude. william translated all the korean signs for me, as i picked out things to try. he was raving about some fresh noodles in the fridge section when he spotted a package that had a large patch of blue mold on it. that was the end of that.

once home from shopping, ryan, annie, and i went to toro sushi– where my exhaustion from the day gave way to hyperactive punchiness. annie and i laughed our way dinner– and especially when she scared the newbie sushi chef [hi, john!] so much that the other sushi chefs and customers turned to look. note to annie: be more careful when addressing man with sharp knife.

not wanting to end the fun quite yet, we went to target afterwards to pick up a board game for some good old fashioned wholesome family fun. we walked away with trivial pursuit 6, the game of random knowlege. i promptly threw down the gauntlet [i’m going to kick y’alls butts!!!!] …. with no response from anyone. hmmph.

we played the game until midnight… eating flan and listening to my mom shout out random states and names in the corner until she passed out and snored the night away. i eventually won first place, annie won second, and ryan… well, he at least got all of his pie slices. so…i’m smart.

smart like britney spears.

happiness is…

annie-kim-ryan.jpg

singing, dancing, and lauging hysterically at the wedding of a couple that you barely know (but really are supposed to) in your fabulous new BCBG gown (that you bought the day before). it was a fun night– complete with pink pink pink super pink decorations, lobster, poorly chosen entertainment, and a raffle for a george foreman grill. i think i consumed about half a liter of soda over dinner. it was quite burp-tastic.

why is my head so incredibly large?
