another in a long line of cute but useless things — the polaroid necklace. what better way to show off your obsession with all that is great and instant? but really, does it have to be so expensive? $175 can buy lots and lots of film.

not very useful (when we make a mess, we make a MESS), but oh-so-pretty. perhaps we can set it up in the kitchen and attack coffee grounds that go astray.  or… we could just knock things over and vacuum them up.

check out this funky upside down tomato planter with room up top to grow other stuffs… like basil, rosemary, peppers, flowers… i’ll pick one of these up next year if my new place has a nice balcony, enough sun, and no big scary bugs/bird poop/fungus. of course, i’ll also have to be home enough to tend to it and remember to water it. if i do… i’ll be one step closer to my guacamole garden.

hanging strawberries would work, too. i could make those happy strawberry-basil summer salads. hmm.

i talk like i’ll have time to cook. ha!

it’s quiet right now. ryan woke up early early this morning to vomit, and since then, he’s been alternating between vomiting and sleeping. thankfully, i only had to go into work for a couple hours today. now i’m sitting at home looking for xmas presents online… for myself. i’m not really sure what anyone else wants, but i keep finding things that are perfect for me. bah.

such as:

•a new camera bag: two compartments for cameras on the outside for easy access and a big compartment for your laptop / tourist maps / notebook / random things you pick up off the street • a compact dye-sub photo printer for those times when you need to print photos but a trip to costco would take sooooooo long • wii games, wii controllers, wii skins • a PSP, because i have too much time on my hands • a 12-month chocolate subscription • a 12-month wine subscription • a 12 month t-shirt subscription • mini fountain pens • perfume, because…well… it’s nice to smell good • a gorillapod • a house

and… i just spilled iced coffee all over myself. so i’m done.

as usual, when i try to shop for other people… i just end up finding things that i want. for example:

from flight001, the perfect ticket/document holder for my trip to italy (and hopefully many, many, many subsequent trips outside the country). pink for me, grey for ryan. of course, we’ll probably just end up going ghetto-style with ziploc baggies and sharpies.

williams sonoma has a pan made just for this (although you could just use 2 bundt cake pans)! use their pumpkin spice streusel cake mix… and you’ve got it made.

while you’re at it, get this pan and make some pumpkin cheesecakes for halloween/me/any random thursday. pumpkin for all!
