the feast of san gennaro

Monday, September 29th, 2003 at about 8:58 pm

a couple weekends ago, ryan and i went to the feast of san gennaro, a new york-italian food fest down in hollywood. we stuffed ourselves with the most amazing calamari from frankie’s, guzzled ice coffee, tried italian doughnuts, italian sausage sandwiches, and italian pastas. mmmmm. we even spotted jimmy kimmel hanging out around the place. fun fun. i can’t wait until next year.

after, we took the red line down the hollywood and highland and ran around the stores while sipping on a happy fizzy blues buster elixer tonic and watching the tourists stroll by. i drooled over a little LV papillon bag and dragged ryan through the shop before running over to origins for some floofy sensory therapy gum. it was a very california experience.

… and for the best part of the day– the trip to freestyle photographics in hollywood– where i picked up a new polaroid back for my holga, film, and my new favorite bag.

first exams

Sunday, September 28th, 2003 at about 8:18 pm

the first exams of the new year have come and gone, and i’m scrambling to get ready for the next. i finally got to the grocery store (after a couple weeks without food)– but it wasn’t the one i expected. i hit up a japanese market– and now am stocked with noodles galore, calpis (anyway you say it, it sounds gross) asiany soda, and happy bread-product.

tomorrow, i’m off to the sushi palace of wonders (toro) to have a happy birthday dinner to annie. i think she’s getting old. i’ll have to make her try to blow out a hawaiian volcano roll or something. spicy salmon all around!

time to cook. or something.
