to relax |
i spent the rest of my weekend alternating between studying and shopping/being happy. went to see big fish [happy, fun movie with costumes that are just fab– even though i broke down near the end when the father (who was in the last stages of his cancer) had a stroke and died.] dinner at wok ‘n roll [good sushi and the lakers were winning]. microbiology at corner bakery. borders [i learned about polaroid transfers]. more micro. anthropologie [oh-so-overpriced]. macy’s [i caught an accidental glimpse of a large man sticking his hand down his girlfriends jeans and rummaging around before continuing to handle the marc jacobs clothes. ugh.]. sephora [found a new stila lip color that is oh-so-very-nice, got attacked by a bottle of shimmer.]. coach [nothing pretty, too crowded]. bcbg [i wish i had prom to go to– i want a pretty dress!]. micro. aaron brothers [love love LOVE their square frames]. sansai [with some very so-so green tea cola]. pharmacology. target. micro. avanti’s [sucks]. victoria’s secret [last day of the semi annual sale– and still tons of junk]. mi piace [i sat and studied while tuning in and out of the conversation at the next table: two men who have traveled more than i could ever dream of. one of whom was an austrailian doctor who made odd comments about the food and decor]. clinical dermatology. sears [returned a gift and walked away with new weights so that i can embarass myself in the privacy of my own home]. macy’s [watched a teenage girl with horrific, painful looking acne vulgaris and her mother pick out a hot pink coach bag. again, ugh.]. trader joe’s [crazy, madhouse, crowded store– could barely maneuver the joint]. study [well, as soon as i finish this entry].

i started off my 3 day weekend with a saturday morning yoga class, a 5 minute stop at the chino spectrum to take pictures of brick [odd, i know], and then a stop at my local thrift store. i came away with a new $2 35mm yunon plastic camera– quite similar to my diana clone, but a little hipper. it’s got 4 aperture settings, a tripod mount, and a hot shoe, but no bulb setting [sadly]. i almost bought a cheap [and quite old] polaroid colorpack land camera 2 as well, but i don’t think i can afford the film. well, that and it was big and dirty.
of course, to go with my $2 camera, i needed 99 cent store film– so i picked up some lucky 200 on the way home from there. and then, since i was running errands anyway, i stopped by the store next door, and found mizthra cheese! it’s the only place i know of that sells it. i’ll have to try my hand at a dish sometime this weekend to try it out. for now, i’ll just enjoy my chicken-avacado-basil-almond-brie wrap thingy that i just made. yum.

i got to play with this puppy at the apple store in old town tonight. yum. it makes this happy click clack sound every time you take a picture– and it doesn’t mind if you push all of its many, many buttons.
i went back to my first yoga class in a long time. same old story– just huffing and puffing and trying to keep up and cursing myself for being so out of shape. oh well.
back to watching more episodes of sex and the city and pretending to study.
i made couscous for dinner tonight. yum!
