eeeeeeeeeew

Friday, June 11th, 2004 at about 1:48 pm

i was just hit on by the old guy at the drive thru window of alberto’s. now THERE’s a way to keep me away from the mexican food. i drove up to the window, he takes one look at me, and asks where i’ve been. i was caught off guard… i was expecting: “your total is 3.50″. he said he hadn’t seen me around here before, as if alberto’s was the happening spot to be at… and as if he actually had a chance with me. oh well. at the very least, i was offered a free drink (which i refused) multiple times.

and… he asked when i would come by again. monday, tuesday?

how about: not for a long, long time.

roasty toasty

aloevera.jpgin an extreme lapse in judgement, i continued to play tennis on into the afternoon, with the bright sun overhead, without any sunblock. so… my shoulders are a nice warm shade of pink. good grief. now i’m covered in aloe vera… and hoping that it won’t get any worse. AND, i killed my trunk muscles serving baskets upon baskets of balls this week. even my intercostal muscles hurt.

pity me?

up all night

Tuesday, June 8th, 2004 at about 12:19 am

i think it’s the tea that’s keeping me from sleeping. or restless legs. they’re sore again from dashing around the courts. i spent a few hours at the club today in the strangely gloomy weather. the sky kept threatening rain, but nothing ever came of it. so, i hit balls until i got tired. it’s a nice way to waste time.

so… i’m up, messing with pictures and uploading a few to my site. i need to take more shots of everything, anything to pass the time/develop my skills– any suggestions?

sore, but in a good way.

Thursday, June 3rd, 2004 at about 10:12 pm

the day started out a bit slow (with me trying to rest my ankle), but by 6pm i was antsy and gave up the struggle. i broke out my pristine white tennis shoes and went 3 rounds with the ball machine. forehand, backhand, volley, on the rise, lob… my poor, weak, out-of-shape arms were so dead afterwards that i hit about 10 serves and called it a night.

over dinner, i chatted with a trauma nurse over at pomona valley… and now i’m thinking of spending a little of my free time over there to check out the action. i used my glass of ice tea to numb my hand… it’s sore from the death grip i had on my racquet for the past hour and a half.

so, i’m having fun– and the ball machine is tons cheaper than the batting cages or the driving range. coolio.

groggy

Thursday, June 3rd, 2004 at about 11:08 am

i was up until 4:30am last night agitated because of my swollen ankle. i finally got to sleep, and 4 hours later, i woke up with a much smaller ankle. since i’m anxious to get it all healed up so i can play again, i’m loafing around my apartment and fiddling with pictures from my vacation. i put 4 new ones up on my site today… and i’ll put the other million up gradually.

but now, i’m bored.

limping around.

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2004 at about 6:43 pm

my sore ankle hasn’t stopped me from running around town. today i:

- got laughed at while carrying a large package of charmin toilet paper throught the parking lot to my car - bought new shorts from AE, new polos from express ($10!) - wandered through big 5 - found a dollar in the parking lot in front of chick’s sporting goods store - bought new prince tennis shoes from chicks (flashback to high school when i wore them until they had holes in the soles) - picked up nice pink adidas socks to go with them - called the doc to set up my preceptorship…. twice - dropped of film to be developed at the local 55 minute photo - got it back 30 minutes later - picked up dinner and tea at the crepe shack.

R.I.C.E. it!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2004 at about 3:50 pm

since i didn’t feel like doing laundry this morning, i drove out to a nearby tennis club and hit some balls with a 12 year old that is almost my height. she laughed when i told her my age. i’m ooooooooooooold. in the middle of a “mini game”, i lunged for a ball and severely inverted my ankle. ouch. it’s sprained, i think, and now it’s sitting on ice. rest, ice, compression, elevation, you know. except, i’m anxious to get back out on the court again, and i have to keep telling myself NO. perhaps i’ll get up for some early morning work on the ball machine instead. maybe that way i’ll avoid embarassing myself in front of all the kids.

good news, is that i can still serve. it’s amazing… since the last few times i’ve tried i just end up hurting myself.

i just might have a tan this summer.

v a c a t i o n

Tuesday, June 1st, 2004 at about 3:38 pm

i’m back from vacation, and back to running errands and answering long forgotten emails. yesterday’s long bubble bath, fresh clothes, and trip to the gym had me feeling almost human… and a little agitated. it’s amazing how much i’ve neglected during school. it was all about survival then, and now i’m missing style, creativity, romance.

one thing at a time, i guess.

i got my car cleaned up today– the seats and the rugs are freshly shampooed and quite damp– but the outside of the car is so beautiful that you can hardly tell where the evil gate once attacked my door.

lunch courtesy of trader joe’s: empanadas. yum. i did a little grocery shopping, but i’ll wait to bring up the case of water i bought– prolly until tonight when i muster up the strength to haul it in.

while i was in upland, i stopped by to check out a rental property… prettier than my place, and a little cheaper– but perhaps not cheap enough for me to move in unless i get a roomie. i’ll keep looking, though. mebbe something with a washer/dryer hookup.

in the meantime… i’ve got to figure out how i’m going to organize my piles and piles of notes from the last year. time to stock up on massive 3 ring binders.

yoga tonight!
