make a flake!

Friday, December 3rd, 2004 at about 8:22 am

snowflakes.jpgfound on one of my favorite blogs: a fun little flash web thingy that brings back memories of elementary school and happy silly fun-ness. make a flake lets you make those paper snowflakes of yore without the fear of papercuts and without all the diamond-shaped paper scrap mess. the end product is in a funk-tunky shade of blue– but you can always fix that in photoshop. preeeeeeeeeeety.

so… make one and email it to me! i want non-school, non-bill, non-spam email coming in!

what is the nutritional value of mushrooms?

Thursday, December 2nd, 2004 at about 7:14 pm

for some reason, i’ve been asked this question on multiple occasions, with no definite answer. i finally remembered to look it up… so here it is:

Mushrooms are relatively high in protein, averaging about 20% of their dried mass. They contribute a wide range of essential amino acids, are low in fat (0.3 - 2.0%), high in fiber and provide several groups of vitamins, particularly thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, biotin, and ascorbic acid. While nutrients vary from one kind of mushroom to the next, many contain protein, vitamins A and C, B-vitamins and minerals including iron, selenium, potassium and phosphorus. Phytochemicals found in some mushrooms are being studied as possible cancer-fighting substances, according to the American Institute for Cancer Research.

change of plans

Thursday, December 2nd, 2004 at about 10:15 am

ok… so the lecturer cancelled, pharmy test questions have been moved to the next exam, the schedule’s all loopy, and i’m giving up. today is my free day.

cindi and i are going to play tennis. yay! i haven’t been to the courts in so long it’s pathetic. i’ve turned into a big mass of undulating jello-ness. so, time to change and study and find something to eat so i don’t pass out on the courts.

i’m happy!

new toy!

Thursday, December 2nd, 2004 at about 8:12 am

my new pocket pc is just so very fabulous. i’ve been playing with it all day– flipping thru flashcards and trying so very hard to memorize the masses of drugs for my upcoming exam. the only thing is… i can’t seem to get my songs from napster onto the thing. POOP! i always get this “Protected” error. EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY PAID FOR THEM. stupid. i scanned some forums on the topic… and the solution is… don’t buy things from napster. napster blows. aaarrrrgh.

…anyway, i finally fixed it. sort of. rip and roll, baby.
