xray2.bmpahh. the first day of rotations. ever. we sat thru a short orientation, gorged ourselves on free food [yay for the doctor’s lounge!], and wandered around the the hospital. g and i were assigned to the NICU. babies everywhere! i love how every section of the NICU is themed: the sand box, the toy box, the “bug” rooms, the puzzle room…

we met one really friendly nurse who told us about a baby who was born with gastroschisis and how they hung the intestines above the baby and every day the doctor shoved a little more back into the abdominal cavity. she’ll show us pictures on friday. cooool.

it looks like a good schedule. one day of call [woo!], about one day off a week, and 9-5ish for most days. tomorrow, g and i are following nurses around for 12 hours, and the next day, we’ll do the same with the respiratory therapists. we were given the ugliest scrubs ever… g started pouting as soon as she put them on. next time, we’re raiding the men’s scrubs.
