santa ba-ba-ra

we drove up to santa barbara for the weekend– partly to get away and relax, and partly to see the salvador dali exhibit at UCSB. i submitted my ERAS application that morning, so i left home with a clear concience.

fresco at the beachwe went to fresco at the beach for some tapas and drinks. we ended up ordering two desserts– a fantastic chocolate souffle and an equally yummy panna cotta. afterwards, we stumbled around the beach and finally into a nearby farmer’s market and grabbed wine, brie, funny looking mini-bread, and gigantic rasberries to take back to our room.

the next day, we ran around the city in the rain. we climbed 3 flights of stairs and took an elevator up 1 floor to the top of the courthouse and looked out over the entire city. then, we wandered through the santa barbara museum of art and along state street. lucky me, i found rainbow sandals 40% off. after failing to find suitable food, ryan and i drove out to UCSB– land of construction and ugly dorms. the dali exhibit was great– he illustrated dante’s works in his own wacked out twisted ways. no oil paintings, but there was an exhibit of yarn “paintings” that looked like fun.  alas, there was no touching allowed.  we grabbed lunch at the student center across the way, ryan talked football with a homeless person, and i ate too much frosty.

then… we came home.
